Strengthening Families
Every generation seems to bring fresh challenges to brothers and sisters to keep families together in the truth. 2020 of course has seen the strain placed on families by COVID 19. Though the challenges appear to be different, on closer examination the same themes keep returning and many are centuries old, so it is not surprising that the Bible should be our first place of reference for help. Meeting Notes Journal  for Children - NEW
Designed to help young people take an active interest in ecclesial meetings.

Each book contains 38 A4 sheets. The sheets have on the left side "Meeting Notes" with spaces to fill in the names of the presider and speaker, the title of the talk, Bible readings, Hymns and list of Bible passages referred to in the talk. On the right side is space for notes from the talk and a drawing or key verse.

I recommend - The Man David
 
From the pastures of his shepherd upbringing to the heights of royalty, David is one of the most notable figures in scripture and whose life is also one of the most detailed. “The Man David” by Bro Harry Tennant is a short - medium size book, covering  the life of David in 10 engaging chapters. Bro Tennant begins setting the scene for the birth of the seventh son of Jesse, from there he discusses not only the man of David but also sheds light on his friends and his foes. The friendship of David and Jonathan highlights the humbleness of Jonathan who acknowledged David as Yahweh’s true anointed. David whose foes were many showed reverence to Saul and remorse toward Absalom.

The life of David spans multiple books in the scripture and much time can be spent placing all the pieces together, the Man David is of benefit to a more complete understanding of the life of David and of his companions especially the long serving captain of the host Joab.
All in all this is a wonderful book that allows us to have a greater understanding of King David, the man who God has declared “I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.”

I RECOMMEND
 
Every so often we read a book or hear a talk that challenges our thinking and helps us in our walk to the Kingdom. I found by reading “The Way of the Tree of Life” by brother Geoff Henstock ,my mind was moved to better understand the important biblical doctrine of “The Way”. Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden of Eden and forbidden from partaking of the tree of life. Yet God placed at the east of the garden Cherubims which kept the way. The Bible ends with a vision of a river of water of life with the tree of life on either side of that river. This book shows us that God was pointing the way to the tree of life throughout the whole Bible.

Update on Milestones 2020
Bro Don Pearce has advised that he is well on the way to writing this years Milestones. Despite COVID 19 which has dominated the news in 2020 the angels of God have still been very active. Bro Don's biggest challenge is what to leave out. He also has the challenge of what to say about Brexit which has been swinging a number of different ways but in the last few days  Europe and Britain have agreed on the terms of their divorce.
There will be plenty to interest brothers and sisters. Publication is expected, God Willing, in early February 2021. 
 
Delivery of items outside the UK.

The Christadelphian office have advised "that the discovery of a new, more virulent strain of coronavirus in the UK is causing distribution problems. More than 40 countries have either closed their borders with the UK, or banned flights from the UK. This means it is no longer possible for the Office to dispatch any overseas items for the time being. This disruption will affect the January 2021 issue of The Christadelphian, which we intended to dispatch on 23 December.

The Office closes on 24 December at noon, and there is no prospect of the situation being resolved before then. Therefore, unfortunately, all overseas items (including January’s magazine) will not be dispatched before January 4, 2021."

We had been expecting a large shipment from the Christadelphian in mid December but this has been caught up in the delay. Included in the shipment are:
* Our first order for the new book on Hannah by Roger Lewis. (We have temporarily withdrawn this from our website until there is more certainty on the delivery date.)

Virtuous Women

The Bible contains many examples of Godly women who through their actions and example, achieved remarkable outcomes. We have four books we recommend which take up this theme. The first is a new book published by The Christadelphian.
"Hannah - Handmaid of the Highest"

Hannah would become one of the most remarkable of all Bible characters. Her life would reveal the highest of godly principles, and an example of triumph through submission that would inspire Mary, the mother of Messiah herself. A godly father with corrupt sons

King Josiah was undoubtedly a remarkable man. He humbled himself before the Word of God and turned to Him with all his heart, soul and strength. He did not deviate from the narrow way and was known not just for zeal but also for his lovingkindness. 

How could such a man who devoted his life to learning and living the scriptures produce three sons who by their early twenties were thoroughly corrupt? 1.  Hardcover Atlas.  Every other page is a full map in full color with commentary on the facing page explaining historical and geographical aspects of the biblical events.  The base maps are from satellite photographs.

2.  Download access to all the maps in jpg electronic format for use in teaching and media presentations.

3.  Access to other resources on the Satellite Bible Atlas website, including:

      A.  Video commentary filmed on location in Israel explaining historical and geographical features of the Land of the Bible.  The videos are between 5-15 minutes and are keyed to the maps in the Satellite Bible Atlas.

      B.  Fuller in-depth commentary to each map in the SBA.

      C. Study questions for each map in the atlas.

We use "Couriers Please" as our main interstate delivery service within Australia. This is used for deliveries to capital cities and other main population areas. Outside these areas or to PO Boxes or for Express Post we use Australia Post.

Couriers Please delivery times from Adelaide are:

Couriers Please is cost effective with very good delivery times and provides a tracking and redelivery service if there is no one home at the first delivery. In these cases they will leave a card in your letter box with the tracking number and a telephone number for you to call to arrange the redelivery. It is important to make this call within 24 hours, or the parcel will be returned to us.

Searching our web site is designed to be simple for the majority of search queries. As an example, to answer the question “I want a book written by John Carter, but can’t remember the title” you would:

  1. Go to our home page www.csss.org.au
  2. In the search bar at the top right of the page type in the words john carter
  3. Click the magnifying glass at the right of the bar and 16 matches to your query will appear.
  4. 11 of these 16 matches are descriptions of the books he wrote, the other 5 matches are references of different types to John Carters work
