Although the "Christadelphian" (brothers in Christ) name was formulated during the American Civil War (1861-65), the roots of the Washington D.C. Christadelphian ecclesia go back to the mid-1850s. The ecclesia is therefore one of the oldest continuous ecclesia'sin modern times. This book records the ecclesia's challenges, difficulties and joyous times over this long period.
For Christadelphians living outside of the North American continent, this book provides many fascinating insights to how ecclesias have developed in different ways but maintain faithful to the true gospel.
I have had the pleasure of visiting the Washington ecclesia several times in the 1990's. It was then and probably still is quite unique in the wide diversity of its members. They were from many races and diverse social backgrounds. From members of the Washington establishment to struggling farmers. They all joined together in their one hope of the Coming Kingdom. This is a fascinating read even if you have been nowhere near washington or don't know any of its members.
