ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Sister Helen Hindmarsh has been the Ancient History teacher at Christadelphian Heritage College Sydney since its inception in 1998, and has focused on the Near East section of the HSC course due to its close connection with Bible history. This has given the senior students a wonderful opportunity to study the historical period of the Kings of Israel and Judah, as well as the features of Assyrian society, and relate them both to the available ancient written and archaeological sources.
Cathy Harnack has written a comprehensive consideration of Persian history from a more secular viewpoint, and supports it with graphic archaeological material and beautiful photographs. The focus of the Persian history is from the reign of Cyrus the Great to the last Persian king, Darius III, whose defeat at the hands of Alexander the Great brought to end the Persian Empire.
